Check Out More Than One Car Dealership

ByBarbara Mary

If you are searching for a car, whether you are looking for a new or used one, you can be sure that you will find what you are looking for at a dealership. There are many different kinds of cars that you can find at a car dealership. You should know that if you go to a dealership that sells a specific make of car, then you may not find what you want if you are looking for a car that is a different make.

Before you decide to run out to your nearest car dealership, you should take some time to plan your trip. The first thing that you will have to do is decide on what kind of car you would like to purchase. It will not do you any good to go to a dealership that does not sell the kind of car that you want. It is a better idea for you to have an idea of a few different cars that you might consider purchasing. Then, if you go to a dealership and they do not have one kind of car that you would like, then you will have other options.

Once you have a few different cars that you would like to purchase, then you will have to make a list of different dealerships that are in your area that sell the kinds of car that you would like. It is essential that you take the time to visit more than one dealership. There are many reasons for this. One of the main reasons that you should make sure that you visit more than one dealership is to see all of the vehicles that each dealership has available. You will have a larger selection of cars to choose from if you go to more than one dealership.

After you have made a list of all of the dealerships that are in your area, you should look for a couple of different factors as you go to each one. First, you will want to make sure that they can offer you the kind of car that you are looking for. Do not let the car salesperson talk you into purchasing a car that you do not want. Second, you will be able to compare the prices that the cars are being sold for at the different dealerships. You can be sure that you are getting the best deal if you compare the prices.

Check Your Jeep ECM Before You Spend More Money on Repairs

Even after cars have been computer controlled for decades, people often ask how a computer in the car would make it more efficient or better performing. The new cars on the road, including Jeeps, are empowered with over seven computerized systems which work in tandem with each other, which is controlled by the Engine Control Module (ECM). The Jeep ECM has similar functions and is crucial to the efficient running of the vehicle.

Before we go any further, we have to understand why automobile companies started computerizing the electronic systems in the cars. This is largely because of the regulation brought in by the US Government. Some of the reasons for complying with the regulation are; to ensure the safety, better fuel efficiency and for the protection of the environment from fuel emissions.

The Jeep ECM, like other ECMs plays a vital role in ensuring comfort, improving the performance and also to control the emissions from the vehicle. You only realize how important the ECM is when you start having problems with the car. There have been instances of people spending more than $1000 on repairs and replacing parts; when all that was required was a simple replacement of the ECM. Sometimes the car remains in the garage for months because there has been no proper diagnosis.

Then, there are the others who have gone ahead and bought themselves a new ECM and find that the problem persists. The answer to this is simple - the right diagnosis. Sometimes, even the mechanic is unable to put his finger on the exact nature of the problem. Its best, at these times, to get a second opinion before you spend a lot of hard earning money on repairs or buying new spare parts.

The parts which are not easy to diagnose are the idle speed control motor, the throttle position sensor switch, intake cam sensor, battery and distributor. There are some standard procedures while diagnosing problems in vehicles that are designed for electronic fuel injection. Each of the systems in the vehicle has to be checked carefully; this method might be tedious but think of the end result. You can save yourself a lot of money, time and heartburn.

If the check engine indicator lamp or the malfunction indictor lamp is on all the time or intermittently, you might have a problem there. So take a look at the Jeep ECM and sniff around for a burnt smell. Then test the ECM to make sure it is working well. If the problem is not with the ECM, check the error codes and the malfunction it indicates. If the problem is with the ECM, replace it with a new unit, if you can afford it, or a used one from a reputed dealer.

You can have the ECM in car scanned by authorized personnel. The scanning should be done with the scan equipment, prescribed by the manufacturer. Make sure that you use only the equipment recommended by the manufacturer, despite the many scan tools available in the market. The scan will reveal which are the problem areas.

The analog volt/ohmmeter is extremely useful for finding out what is wrong with your Jeep ECM. This is useful for all Chrysler vehicles. There are also specific methods to check the malfunction indictor lamp codes for many models.

Check Your Source Before You Buy a Dodge ECU

All vehicles, these days, come with an Electronic Control Unit (ECU), which is now an integral part of modern vehicle engine control. These ECUs are equipped with a microprocessor to administer various actuators of the engine to optimize its functioning.

What the ECU does is that, based on the inputs that the microprocessor receives from the many sensors in the engine (collectively known as Look-up Tables or LUTs), it optimally regulates the fuel quantity, ignition time, the gear to speed ratio and other parameters that aid the internal combustion engine to maximize performance. These were all done manually before ECUs made its appearance on the automobile scene.

The state of the art engine computers get inputs from many sources and control the engine. A good example is the variable valve timing systems which are controlled electronically and the turbo charger waste gates which are also controlled electronically. The engine computer also interfaces with the transmission control units and the automatic transmissions. The ECUs in the vehicles today may also be equipped with many other controls like cruise, anti skid brake and so on.

If you are looking for a Dodge ECU, you can buy it off any online store. There are many online stores that sell ECUs. You would need to browse the net to find the right one. Compare their services and prices and make your selection.

Make sure you log on to the right online dealer who offers a warranty and will programme the module to match your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and mileage.

The module must also be updated with the latest software update from Chrysler.

To get the right Dodge ECU, it is important to furnish the year of manufacture and make of your Dodge vehicle, since the ECUs don't come with a one-size-fits-all. In the 2012 line up Dodge has a range of five cars that is the Avenger, Challenger, Dart, Charger and the Caliber while Durango, Nitro and Journey are the SUVs (sports utility vehicles) or crossover vehicles. The company also produces a minivan branded the Grand Caravan.

That's not the end of the story as there are a number of older Dodge models on the road and it is for these vehicles that ECU is often replaced.

Let the dealer also know the relevant part number, as this would greatly help in programming the module correctly. Once your order is confirmed and paid for, the dealer will ship you the Dodge ECU with a pre-paid return label. You must then return your old ECU for the warranty to be active. The warranty will cease if the old ECU is not returned. Check if the product includes shipping and handling otherwise you will be charged additionally. Some Dodge dealers may also offer a lifetime free warranty for the ECU when you buy the product.

The Dodge ECU that you buy from an online store is a re-manufactured and custom programmed module made to OEM specifications incorporating the latest updates from Mopar (the automobile parts and service unit of Chrysler Group LLC, the makers of Dodge vehicles.) You only need to plug in and get going with no additional programming required. It is as easy as that.
